I think I never mentioned to anyone what my new year resolution was. It wasn’t that private for public to know. Actually I never had any new year resolution before up until this year. Previous year, I actually know what and how to get things I wanted in life. Some things in this world, things are already prepared for you to jump start your new year and new beginnings or renew your old life.
So, my 2011 resolution was to get my core abdominal in shape a.k.a. the infamous and mystical six-pack abs. Sounds a little of a show off, but its time to get it done. Finally, I get to know on how to do it the proper way, proper training, and proper diet. No supplements, and no gym work outs. I quit gym-ming for quite a while now. Getting bored with all those machines and distracted by other gym-goers which eventually make the gym packed with people and ruining concentration. Not much result will get done in there so I had to leave and do it at home.
With Capoeira training with friends for cardio types of drills and acrobatics as an added values. Its been fun and hard at the same time. Had to rely on the Internet and books for tips and tricks on how to do proper exercise for abs workout. Its not that hard yet its not that easy either. Its hard to perform the drill daily and on time with high level of discipline (same goes to ANY new years resolution). Everything requires discipline. To me
“distraction is the enemy of discipline.”
Its hard to get things done without discipline. You can miss doing things along the way within seconds and after that you forget what you’ve done. This what breaks the goal of any resolution, and people tend to postpone their resolution a year forward (based on observation). This is the reason I didn’t have any resolution in the previous years.
Now I have the tools I need to get my abs done and its progressing well and taken shape. Had to balance my diet more. Cravings are hard to get away. This is actually when mentality control takes action. Every cravings I have, I had to treat it as a privilege to have. For example, cakes (Secret recipes, Baker’s cottage, etc), donuts (J.Co donuts, Big Apple Donuts, KrispyKreme, Dunkin Donuts, etc), coffee (Coffee Bean, Starbucks, Oldtown, Papparich, etc) and Western delights. Yes, they are delicious to look and taste at, but very expensive too. So I had to filter these cravings out of my head and focus more on healthier diet. These cravings are actually hard to get, I mean, I don’t come from a rich family. So i know my limits to having these privilege items as my own. This goes without saying, pretty much my 2nd 2011 new year resolution: control my cravings. Cravings can really affect my abs workout plan.
Its never too late to start your new years resolution, in fact its only (from the time I wrote this) April of 2011. Its the fourth month of the year, still early!!! Be it if you are still searching for your resolution or already working on it. Good luck and all the best to you, my friends!~
