2nd Sunday riding of the month. Felt like 50 km of riding distance total. Mix all that with heavy showers and massive overhead thunderstorm. Freaky it was. I thought it would damage my phone and tablet. Took a shelter at a bus stop in the center of the KL city center. I managed to get there on time before it gets heavy. Wind blows the droplets and made my clothes, bike and helmet wet. Had to cover up. My body temp. is pretty warm so im not worried of getting shiver breeze. The rain nearly slow paced so i took off with my wind breaker. Gone through one of the busiest road in the city with six interchange junctions, full load buses. Pretty dangerous to ride alongside those big elephants if you’re not careful, so i thought having a full face helmet actually helps. Potholes everywhere taking up water. Splashes from passing cars. More like a punishment for not having a motorized vehicle. By now i began to think this how its gonna be if you are cycling in a car dominated city, and the people doesnt actually support a greener future.

Was about to head out to get some lubricant for my bike. Thought it was a beautiful yet humid afternoon. Wanted to take a photo of the flowers. Then i saw my mom’s bougainvillae (hope spelled that right), there was a grasshopper taking a shade between the flowers. So i snapped a photo with my phone. Packed with 8MP resolution, turned out everything great. Switched to macro focus, the detail of the grasshopper is quite fair. Love it…

First and longest solo cycle trip in the capital ever. Some adventure it was. Just got back, and im still sweating. Checked the map how far i went. The photo above was the first check point (juz to take breathe and drink). This is like one of the most exclusive malls in Kuala Lumpur. Took me approx. an hour and a half to reach, going thru major roads and uneven pavements and grass. Had to walk on steep roads (i didnt have bfast). Challenging but fun. I was sitting at the mall before the security guards chased me out. Then i realized that bikes are not allowed on the pavements of that mall. Thats just Bull. I had to obey or else they might sue me. Sue for cycling? Its not like i’m vandalizing anything, just passing through. Then i had to cycle back using another route. Went to another major mall, the Petronas Twin Towers. They have this huge park at the back for public. And again the security there chased me out. No bikes in the park. In other days i was there hanging out, those guards patroling around the park with motorcycles. WHAT THE FISH!!!!!???? And there i go off again. Heading towards another major public park somewhere near the rim of the city center. It has a lake huge lake. This is a cycling friendly park. Took my chance to test the brakes of my bike. Almost fell into a coverless man hole. Squeezed the rear brake like twice and skidded left and right before escaping the manhole. That was pure adrenaline rush. Felt good really. I wanted to jump but i wasnt that good yet. It was nearly 10am, i left home at about 7.30am. The sun was getting hotter. My skin is getting darker. Im hungry and need a shower. 5 km more to home, my left thigh is pumping hard, i could feel it. My limit is reaching its hardest. I kept going. I think it was 7 more traffic lights to go. Cars here can be a bit annoying (by my observation). Hand signals are important. Slow down when you reach a junction, and give right hand signals if the car behind you is taking that left junction. Street cycle is risky especially if you decide to ride with the cars and not only stick with the pavements. Pavements here is tricky, you wont know whats the end of it,it can be hard to see. Look front always and not the front tyres.

New photos updated: Trip to my hometown/birthplace. The photo above was taken in Tropical Spice Garden, located in Batu Feringgi Beach, Penang Island, Malaysia. That was my 2nd time there in the Garden. It was the a lil bit the same compared to the first time I visited some 10 years ago, with few new added features such as the stairs and mosaic tree. The best and my favorite feature is the giant swing. Once you’re on that swing you could see the whole surrounding of the garden (well almost). But sitting on that swing makes you feel like a king (literally). hahaha… enjoy. See more of the photos in the gallery “General and Portrait”.

My first bike ride with the Malaysia’s tourism minister and 300 other cyclists at my mother’s hometown. Had so many firsts on that day alone. I got called by the Minister just to be interviewed by her and the press. The minister was admired by my helmet. Kinda amusing at how much attention my helmet got. It was the only kind of helmet at the event. Am still shocked at the occasion of being called by the minister that day till now..hahaha. Sweet memories.
