A new type of crime arises in the streets of Kuala Lumpur recently, and its a hot topic, creates fear among residents especially to women! We have heard so much about snatch thieves, home robberies, bank robberies, pick-pockets, hitters, and other that involves theft and killing. But now, some people rise up to the next level. This is no ordinary crime devils, acid splashers. So far, the victims are mostly women of all ages except children. These guys (two of them) are motorbike mounted, one is the rider and the other is the pillion/splasher. The recent reports stated that these fellas hated women, used the “B” word every time they splash to the target victim.
The tactics used by them to do the work is to make sad faces to the target victim. For example, as mentioned these guys are bike mounted, so they roam in the open roads (this is also typical to street theft, common in KL nowadays) especially during traffic light stops. They knock on the victim’s car window as if they wanted to ask for money or street directions. If the victim refused to wind down the window, they smash the window and attack (in this case they splash the acid). Wind down the window or not, they always have a way of attacking. They attack, not for the money or anything, it almost sounds like a killing spree, the only difference they don’t kill the body, but they kill the people’s spirit to live. All the victims now were hospitalized, once splashed with acid on the face, you may not get your face back. That is maddeningly cruel.
Up till last night, 19th of May 2011, these guys went around Selangor choosing their target victims to attack. If you have your Google maps now, they have been going around from district to district. First was Gombak and then to Wangsa Maju, next was MMU, Cyberjaya, then to Shah Alam and then the recent (last night) was in 1Utama shopping mall compound in Petaling Jaya. That was the pattern.
Fear amongst the people are rising, especially to women. This is something that is not easy to curb. If any of us who is brave enough to catch, these devils has more advantage to defend: with acid. Till now the police still have no clue or reported as to where they get their hands on the acid.
To these guys it may probably fun and games, bully and whatnot. It is an act of a psychopath.
